Why Chiropractic Care is a Great Choice for Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

chiropracticIf you suffer from shoulder pain, you understand just how annoying it can be. It can have an adverse impact on your quality of life, making it hard to send text messages, cook, drive, and lift objects. There are a lot of reasons why you might be suffering from shoulder pain, and one example is called rotator cuff tendinitis. What do you need to know about this condition, and how can you benefit from chiropractic care? There are a few important points that you should keep in mind. Keep reading to learn more.

What Is Rotator Cuff Tendinitis?

So, what exactly is rotator cuff tendinitis? Your rotator cuff is responsible for helping you move your shoulder in just about every possible direction. There are four muscles that must work together to give you the flexibility and range of motion that you enjoy. If you have inflammation of your rotator cuff muscles, you could develop something called rotator cuff tendinitis.

As the name suggests, this has to do with the tendons of your rotator cuff muscles specifically. The tendons of your rotator cuff are responsible for connecting the muscles to the bones of your shoulder and arm. If the tendons become inflamed, you could experience pain, discomfort, and weakness. If the issue is not addressed quickly, then it could get worse. What might you experience if you have rotator cuff tendinitis?

What Are a Few Symptoms You Might Develop?

Just like other conditions, the exact symptoms of rotator cuff tendinitis will vary depending on the severity of the condition. One of the most common symptoms of rotator cuff tendinitis is reduced range of motion. You might find that you cannot move your shoulder as far because of the stiffness or discomfort in your arm. Pain is another common symptom of rotator cuff tendinitis. You might find that the pain gets worse depending on the direction in which you move your arm.

You may also experience weakness in your arm. In particular, you might have a hard time lifting objects up over your head because you do not have the strength you once had. You might even notice that the arm with rotator cuff tendinitis is significantly weaker than the other arm. Depending on the severity of the condition, you might have one, some, or all of these symptoms.

How Can a Chiropractor Help You?

If you have been diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis, you might think that you need to undergo surgery. That is not always the case. A chiropractor can take a look at the alignment of your muscles, ligaments, and tendons, then, using manual therapy, a chiropractor can make sure that the components of your rotator cuff are in the right spots.

He or she can also talk about exercises you can perform to strengthen the weaker muscles in your arm and shoulder. By providing your shoulder with extra support, you can reduce your chances of developing rotator cuff tendinitis in the future.

Trust a Chiropractor for Help With Rotator Cuff Concerns

In the end, rotator cuff tendinitis can have a negative impact on your quality of life, but there are treatment options available. You do not necessarily need to undergo surgery or take prescription medications. Instead, a chiropractor can use manual therapy to help you ensure that your joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons are in proper alignment while also discussing ways that you can reduce your chances of developing shoulder pain in the future.
